KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has restrained the K-Electric management till February 19 from sending 1,500 of its employees to the reserve pool. K-Electric employees’ union had approached the high court, informing that the power utility’s management had gotten its tariff increased from the National Electric and Power Regulatory Authority under the pretext that it has to ‘feed’ 7,604 employees. After getting the tariff increased, the utility has laid off hundreds of the employees, said advocate Naeem Iqbal, who represented the labour union. Headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, the bench on Wednesday issued notice to the K-electric for February 19.
