The Lahore High Court on Wednesday extended a stay order against the planned demolition of a portion of Lady Willingdon Hospital till February 17.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Dr Yasmin Rashid and the Young Doctors Association have challenged the demolition of a portion of the hospital in similar petitions.
An additional advocate general told the court on Wednesday that the law of land acquisition did not apply in this case as the hospital land belonged to the government.
The Lahore Development Authority’s counsel said funds had been released for the project and the construction of a flyover at Azadi Chowk could not be delayed. Justice Abdul Sattar Asghar adjourned hearing till February 17 and asked the petitioner’s counsel to file a written rejoinder to the government’s reply.
