Kidnapping prevented: Citizens thrash suspect

Citizens foiled a kidnap attempt after a man was caught taking a seven-year-old girl with him. He was beaten up with shoes and sticks before he was handed over to the police.


Police said the man was caught when a passer-by asked him why the girl in his arms was crying. The passer-by said he got suspicious on account of the man’s body language and confronted him. He caught the man when he threw the girl and tried to run. More people came around and locked the man in a factory, where he was beaten up.

Civil Lines police were called and the man was handed over to them. Police said the man had been identified as a resident of Nowshera Virkan. They said he had confessed to the crime.

In Faisalabad, a 25-year-old man abducted 10 days ago was found dead in Lundianwala on Monday.

Police said the deceased, a resident of Chak 568-GB, was kidnapped from his house by unidentified men.

They said police had been trying to recover him. On Monday, they said, they recovered the body from a field in Chak 569-GB. Police are investigating the case.
