Khanewal shootout: Two suspected attackers die in encounter

LAHORE:

Two suspected suicide bombers were killed and two more were arrested by intelligence agency operatives, police and Elite Force personnel following an alleged encounter in Khanewal on Friday.

According to sources, the alleged encounter took place following a raid on a compound in Vehari. The suspects fled the compound before the intelligence operatives, who were acting on a tip-off, reached the location.

Subsequently, the operatives, along with policemen of the Sadar police station in Vehari, gave chase and cornered the suspects in the vicinity of Chub Kalan police station in Khanewal district.

Upon being cornered, the suspects fired at the police and intelligence officials, injuring two of the latter.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Khanewal DPO Rana Ayaz Saleem said the injured suspects were being interrogated.
