Painting competition: Cash prizes distributed among students

Mengal announces that competitions on Lyallpur’s heritage and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan would also be held soon.

The city district government on Thursday distributed cash prizes among students of several colleges and universities at a painting competition.


Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal said the painting competition had been organised to promote creative activities among the youth.

He said a large number of students had participated in the competition. Mengal announced that competitions on Lyallpur’s heritage and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan would also be held soon.

Faisalabad Arts Council Resident Director Tariq Javed said as many as 72 students had entered their paintings. He said the topic for the competition was happiness.

Saba Idrees, a student of Government Girls College, Peoples Colony, won the first prize and was awarded Rs100,000.

Mazhar Javed, a student of National Textile University, Faisalabad, won Rs50,000. Sakina Arif, a student of Government Islamia Girls College, Eidgah Road, was awarded Rs25,000 at the ceremony.

MNA Mian Muhammad Farooq, MPAs Madiha Rana, Mian Tahir Jamil, and Executive District Officer (Education) Shahida Sohail were also present on the occasion.
