The Lahore High Court on Thursday rebuked Civil Lines Investigation Wing superintendent for repeatedly defying court orders and issued an arrest warrant for him.
Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik issued the arrest warrants for SP Mufakhar Adeel after he failed to appear before the court despite several notices on a petition moved by a citizen Ahmad Shehzad seeking directions to the police to register a theft case.
The petitioner said the police had not registered a theft case on his application. He said the officers had also accepted illegal gratification from him.
Minutes after the arrest warrant was issued, the SP appeared and submitted an unconditional apology.
The judge said all officers were equal.
He said the court would not allow anyone to defy its orders.
He accepted the apology and sought a detailed report on petition at the next hearing.
