Youth Festival: Special athletes compete in educator sector games

Education sector athletics competitions of the Punjab Youth Festival were held at the Punjab Stadium on Thursday.


Saifullah of Jallo Park Boys School won the 100-metres race. Azhar Ali stood second and Haider Ali was third.

In the 200-metre race, Usman Ali was first, Jabbar Saddique second and Azhar Ali third.

In the 400-metre race, Muhammad Ijaz Khan of Islamia High School at Khazana Gate won the first position, Jabbar Saddique was second and Mahboob Ali stood third.

In the 800-metre race, Muhammad Farooq of Attoke Awan School took the first position, followed Aaqib Afzal of Model Town School and Jaffar Ali.

In the 1,500-metre race, Muhammad Shahbaz of Attokey Awan School stood first, Mazhar Ali was second and Abbas Akbar was third.

Muhammad Azeem was the winner of the long jump contest. Hassan Raza was second and Aaqib third.

In the javelin throw, Ibrar Ali stood first, Muhammad Farooq was second and Abbas Ali stood third.

In the shot-put contest, Arslan Mushtaq was first, Ali Ahmed was second and Waleed Asif was third.

In girls’ competitions, Sabiha Mushtaq took the 100-metre title. Komal Ishtiaq and Muneeba were second and third in the race.

In the 200-metre race, Muneeba stood first, Farah and Tahira were second and third, respectively.

In the 400-metre race, Fariha Ijaz stood first, Muneeba was second and Fatima was third.

In the 800-metre race, Khadija Rana was first, Maria Hayat was second and Iraj Akhtar was third.

In the 1,500 metre race, Komal Zulfiqar was first, Tanzeela Faisal was second and Mariam was third.

In the long jump, Shinawar Abdullah was first, Sabeeha Mushtaq stood second and Roma was third.

In the javelin throw contest, Amna Azmat was winner, Munazza Shaukat was second and Naureen Aslam was third.

In the shot-put contest, Momena Asrhad took the first positon, Rashida Zahoor was second and Faiza Khalid was third.

As many as 522 special children took part in athletics, basketball, football, and motor activity training programme (MATP) events.

MPAs Mian Naseer Ahmed, Lubna Faisal and Hina Pervaiz Butt were present on the occasion.

Aleeza, Suleman and Attequr Rehman of Rising Sun Institute DHA took the top three positions in MATP contest.

In the young athletics event, Tayyaba of Rising Sun Institute Mughalpura took the first spot while Hamza Sabir of DHA Campus was the runner-up, followed by Amal Saeed of the same campus.

Athletics competitions were held in three categories.

The 50-metres race was won by Habib. Uzair Shaukat and Afzal took the second and third positions respectively.

Hussain Niaz won the 100-metre race followed by Saad Ali and Usman Saleem. Saad Yousuf won the long jump contest. Umair Zubair and Faisal finished second and third, respectively.

In the football championship, Rising Sun Institute DHA beat the Mughalpura branch. Rising Sun Institute DHA also took the basketball title.

Mat wrestling trials will be held at the Punjab College of Commerce on Saturday (February 8). Arm-wrestling trials and bodybuilding contests will be held at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall.
