Bilateral relations: Dar meets UAE finance minister

UAE finance minister says Pakistan’s economy had been placed on track through enforcement of financial discipline.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan cherishes close friendly ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Speaking to the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry of UAE, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, he said Pakistan’s economy had been placed on track through enforcement of financial discipline. “Revenue collection in January was Rs167 billion, indicating an increase of 26% over the collection last year, which is a positive signal towards achieving the annual target,” he added. “Prospects of utilising natural gas are bright as the government is incentivising oil and gas exploration to overcome energy shortages.” Maktoum expressed optimism that Pakistan would soon overcome the challenges. Appreciating the contribution of expatriate Pakistani community to the development of UAE, he assured utmost support of the government to economic development in Pakistan.
