LAHORE: The General Cadre Doctors’ Association has proposed a three-point solution for doctors deferred for promotion from the general cadre to the teaching and specialist cadres. This was proposed at the GCDA executive council’s meeting on Wednesday. GCDA President Dr Masood Sheikh said this would solve the problem of 75 deferred doctors out of as many as 200. The GCDA has proposed that doctors who have provided their annual confidential reports (ACRs) to the selection committee, and whose ACRs have been verified in interviews between December 23 and January 6, should be promoted. Doctors in this category should be promoted along with others in the first list. Those with deficient ACRs should be asked to complete their documents in five days. Those meeting this deadline should be promoted in seven days. Posting plan should be announced for the promoted doctors. Dr Sheikh added that the posting plans should be doctor-friendly, with as little displacement as possible.
