Working relations: Senator vows better ties with Germany

Senator calls for establishment of Pakistan-German parliamentary friendship group to institutionalise relationship.

ISLAMABAD: Senate Defence Committee led by its chairman, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, called for the establishment of Pakistan-German parliamentary friendship group to institutionalise the relationship between the two parliaments. “Germany’s role in helping Pakistan win GSP Plus status from the European Union was highly appreciated by all the political parties,” he made these remarks in an interaction with the German parliamentarians during the committee’s visit to Berlin. In order to promote trade relations between the two countries, Hussain proposed establishment of German-Pakistan joint chamber of commerce which would facilitate bilateral contacts between the two countries. He also supported Germany playing a pro-active role in Pakistan’s industrial sector and economy particularly in solar energy, science and technology, education and textiles. The delegation also called for cooperation in defence production, adding that German machinery played invaluable role in Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Wah.
