RAWALPINDI: A fifth-grader committed suicide on Saturday by hanging himself from a ceiling fan, the police said. The incident took place in the boy’s house in the limits of Waris Khan Police Station. Quoting a statement from the boy’s family, the police said that 14-year old Kashif Nazir committed suicide at his house by hanging himself with a rope. IO Sub Inspector Muhammad Hayat said, “We are collecting information from the deceased’s family, but it does appear to be a suicide”. He said that victim was in class five and was not interested in his studies. On Saturday, his mother scolded him for his attitude and told him to go to school. The boy went to his room and hanged himself using a dopatta. The body was shifted to DHQ for autopsy, where an exchange of words continued between the boy’s family and police, as the family did not want an autopsy conducted.
