The district administration has imposed Section 144 CrPC banning motorcycle riding in the city to provide security for the 'Sehat ka Insaf' immunisation campaign beginning in the district today (February 2). Moreover, nearly 4,500 police, Frontier Constabulary (FC) and reserve police personnel have been deployed to provide security.
According to a press release issued from Deputy Commissioner Syed Zahirul Islam’s office, the ban on bikes would come into effect from 8am and end at 5pm on Sunday (today).
It was also stated that action would be taken against all violators of the ban under section 188.The press release further stated that during the drive, children below the age of five will be immunised against nine fatal diseases, adding the drive would continue for three months and be carried out each Sunday. Volunteers will go door to door to distribute hygiene kits and awareness pamphlets. The ban on motorcycles will come into effect every Sunday.

Minister for Health Shaukat Yousafzai on Friday announced that during the initial phase of the Sehat ka Insaf drive, 480,000 people will be covered. A police official on Saturday said foolproof arrangements have been made in order to make the drive successful. “FC along with both reserve and regular police will be performing security duties and police mobiles will remain on patrol throughout the day,” he shared. He added local aman lashkars will also assist police in providing security.
