Bakhtawar releases 'hip' new track to kick off Sindh Festival

Bakhtawar and Mooroo's collaboration went viral on social media after it was shared on Twitter.

KARACHI: As the Bilwal Bhutto-Zardari led Sindh Festival kicked off among the ruins of Moenjo Daro on Saturday evening, his sister Bakhtawar released a song for the cultural festival.

Made in collaboration with the band Mooroo, the song was released via a link to the song on the Sindh Festival's official Twitter account.

The song starts off with a very catchy beat and has a hip-hop feel to it. Bakhtawar, who has previously dabbled in some rap music, talks about preserving Pakistans' heritage, the motto of the festival. She goes on to rap about how Pakistanis should "stand tall" on their "soil with pride".

Bakhtawar's collaboration with Mooroo is another step in the festival's campaign process. This was preceded by Facebook videos that she along with her brother Bilawal made to promote the traditional ajrak.

The song with Mooroo is not the only single that will be featuring in the festival. Ali Gul Pir, of the Saeein toh Saeein fame, was asked to produced a track specially for the festival. The result is Pakistan ka Beta. Borrowing from Saeein toh Saeein, it promotes the festival.
