KRL replace KESC as table leaders

Defending champions defeat NBP 1-0 in PPFL.

KARACHI: KRL regained its top spot in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) after defeating NBP 1-0 at the MTFA ground in Lahore on Tuesday.

The defending champions dominated both halves of the match as Saadullah scored the winner in the 10th minute to seal KRL’s 19th win of the season.

The winners now have 62 points after playing 27 matches, while NBP are facing relegation — they are in 12th position with 33 points.

In another fixture, Wapda took second spot in the league after beating KPT 2-0. Even though Wapda too have 62 points, KRL led the table on the basis of goal difference.

As a result, KESC slumped to third place with 62 points while KPT stood in eighth position with 38.

Meanwhile, Army held Afghan FC in a goalless draw and replaced PIA in fifth place with 46 points. Afghan FC also saved themselves from relegation by claiming ninth spot with 36 points.
