Football: WAPDA thrash Afghan FC 3-0 in PPFL

Afghan FC are safe from the relegation after finishing on the ninth place.

Four-time champions Wapda thrashed Afghan FC 3-0 in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) match in Lahore on Sunday.


Muhammad Asif scored the opening goal in the second minute of injury-time as Wapda led 1-0 at the interval.


Afghan FC braved Wapda in the second half with a more defensive approach, but seasoned striker Arif Mehmood doubled the lead in the 81st minute and sealed the win three minutes later.


Wapda continued on third place. They also have 59 points like KRL and KESC, but lag behind the two league leaders on goal difference.


Meanwhile, Afghan FC are safe from the relegation after finishing on the ninth place.
