ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Reheel Sharif held a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, Radio Pakistan reported.

The two leaders discussed the security situation across the country.

General Raheel briefed the prime minister about the situation on the borders.

Last week, the government had signaled its willingness a military operation against terror groups operating in the country. The premier was told that the army was fully prepared for any tactical strike or even a full-fledged operation, to which Nawaz replied asking the army to prepare a complete operational plan.

The COAS also held a meeting with the Naval Chief of South Africa in Rawalpindi.

The two discussed ways to further promote relations between the armed forces of the two countries.

The South African Chief also met Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Rashid Mahmood and discussed professional matters.
