ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has decided to assign senior columnist and analyst Irfan Siddiqui a key post in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

A summary for Siddiqui’s appointment as the managing director of PTV has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office, sources said.

Although a final decision on the posting has yet to made, the sources said Siddiqui has already started to oversee PTV affairs in unofficial capacity.

The senior columnist has been allotted a room inside the PTV building and the heads of the organisation’s various departments have been asked to report directly to him, they added.

Siddiqui has served as the press secretary of former president Rafiq Tarar during Nawaz Sharif’s second run in office.
