FAISALABAD:

The FDA City will be developed along modern lines and provision of basic infrastructure – electricity, water, drainage – ensured, District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal said on Friday.

He was chairing a meeting at the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company headquarters.

The DCO said the authority had plans to expand the FDA City and had allocated land for FESCO employees in it. These plots will be allotted through ballot, he said.

FESCO Chief Executive Officer Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan said 3,800 plots in the FDA City had been earmarked for FESCO employees.

FESCO employees can submit applications for plots in the FDA City till the end of February. The plots will be allocated through ballot on March 23. Mengal said the FDA City had been neglected for seven years, but the government would turn it into a city landmark. Even Ghulam Muhammad Abad and Peoples Colony, which had state-of-the-art facilities, would not compare to the FDA City, he said. “According to the master plan, it will have a 200-kanal golf and country club, a police post, a community centre, a mosque and a dispensary,” the DCO said. He said the Faisalabad Development Authority would identify a sweet water source for the area before allowing construction to begin. “All houses will be constructed according to the approved building plans,” he said.
