Youth Festival: Tehsil games enter second week

As many as 104,000 people participated in the tehsil games of the Punjab Youth Festival which entered its second week on Saturday and 24,600 moved to the next round. 


In Wagha Town, 103 out of 582 participants won their games. In hockey, Team Waleed defeated Team Imran. In wrestling, Usman Pehlwan overpowered Waqas and Shoaib beat Hameed.

In Aziz Bhatti Town, 404 people competed and 28 players moved to the next round. Zohaib, Javed, Khurrum and Mansoor took the first four positions and the badminton championship was won by Ali Farooq. Akhtar Bashir won the bodybuilding contest and Arshad Ali was the runner-up.

In Ravi Town, 1,313 players contested in various games and 46 won.

Heroes and Tri Stars won their hockey games. In wrestling, Bashir Ranjha and Kalu Pehlwans won their bouts.

In Data Ganj Bakhsh Town, 319 participated and 23 won.

Rafiq Ali, Ahsan and Tariq Feroze won the bodybuilding competitions and Kaleen and Nazir won the weightlifting titles. In Samanabad Town, 319 participated and 23 players moved to the next round.

Team Haseeb won over Team Hassan and Team Yasir beat Team Hanif in hardball cricket. Dilbar Khan was the winner in weightlifting contest and Khurrum Butt was declared Mr Samanabad.

In Iqbal Town, 82 people participated in various events and 25 won.

In tug of war, Nazir Club beat Mushtaq Club. Team Younus XI beat Akbar Team in hardball cricket.

In Nishtar Town, two players won out of the 40 participants.

In Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana Sahib Districts, 26,264 people participated in various events and 1,791 won.

In Chakwal, Attock, and Jehlum, there were 16,520 participants and 1,228 won.

In Bhakkar, Khushab and Mianwali, 18,888 people competed and 5,907 won.

In Hafizabad, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin and Narowal, 4,708 took part in various games and 1,338 won.

In Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot, 4,527 came out for competitions and 1,647 won.

In Okara and Pakpattan, 5,529 competed and 896 won.

In Vehari, Lodhran and Khanewal 6,247 people competed and 2,450 won.

Mini-marathon

Muhammad Siddique won the mini-marathon race held at Ravi Town. As many as 1,200 people participated in the race.

Muhammad Faisal and Zeeshan stood second and third, respectively.

MPA Ghazali Butt was the chief guest. The race started from Jahangir’s Tomb and ended at Shahdara Sports Complex.

Athletics competition

A large number students took part in the athletics competition at the Punjab Stadium on Saturday.

Sajid Ali won the 800-metre boys race, Muhammad Bilal was second and Tauseefur Rehman stood third. Abbas Ali won the 1,500-metre race, followed by Muhammad Ali and Ali Kamran. The shot put event was won by Waleed Asif. Abdullah Saleem stood second and Muhammad Faisal was third.

Nadeem Akhtar was victorious in the javelin throw. Sajid Ali was second and Adeel Ahmad stood third.

Nabeela Amjad won the 100-metre race in the secondary schools athletics event. Samina Akram stood second.

In the 200-metre race, Nabeela Amjad was the winner and Kaneeza Fatima was second. Shazia Maqsood was victorious in long jump followed by Fareeha. In javelin throw, Noor Fatima won and Uzma took the second place.
