ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court on Monday ordered the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against an official of the Lohi Bher Police Station for conducting a raid without a warrant.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, disposing of a complaint, ordered to register an FIR against the police officer.

A resident of Dhoke Chaudhrian, Mumtaz Bibi, complained that Sub-Inspector Ishaq Bhatti raided her house in Rawalpindi in the wee hours of December 14 last year.

In a complaint, she said that the police team led by Bhatti broke in without a warrant and beat her and other family members.

She alleged the police also took away mobile phones and Rs10,000.

A relative of the complainant, whose name could not be ascertained, was accused of stealing Rs300,000 from a house in Bahria Town where Mumtaz used to work.

It was not immediately clear if there was any connection between the two separate incidents.

An FIR against the officer will be registered once court order is received by the SHO, the police said.
