LAHORE:

Wekh Lahore photography exhibition and competition concluded on Sunday.

A prize distribution ceremony was followed by a folk music concert at Alhamra Arts Council. The event was organised by the Walled City of Lahore Authority. Journalist Sohail Warraich was the chief guest.

Warraich said, “When I visited the US, I wanted to see how they had preserved their heritage sites. I wondered when we would realise the importance of preserving history. When the WCLA was established in 2012, and I had a guided tour of the Walled City, it was a dream come true.”

Masood Ahmed Khan, of the Lahore Photography Club, said, “All amateur participants of the contest are winners in their own way.”

Maha Tauqir, one of the visitors, said, “Wekh Lahore helped us explore the Walled City but promoted young photographers. More of such events should be planned to educate the people about the rich culture and history of the city.”

At the prize distribution ceremony, souvenirs were given to the judges Ibrar Cheema, Umair Ghani, Atif Saeed and Zulfikar Ali Zulfi.

The first second and third prizes were won by Mudassir Madni, Hashim Aslam and Abdul Rahim.

Sher Muhammad, Salman Ali, Amir Sheikh, Fakhre Khalid, Hamid Rasheed, Ameer Hamza, Rashid Mehmood and Mahina Rekhi received consolation prizes.
