Express News attack: Protests held across the province

Members of the Cameramen’s Association also participated in the protests.

Dozens of people on Saturday staged a protest demonstration in front of the Lahore Press Club against the killing of three Express News workers in Karachi on Friday.


Members of the Pakistan Awami Tehrik, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, the Insaf Students Federation, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf, the Pakistan Peoples Party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Lahore Photojournalists Association were present on the occasion.

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) strongly condemned attacks on journalists. Politicians Ejaz Chaudry, Jahangir Badr, Yasmeen Rashid and Kamran Micheal and journalists Rana Azeem, Arshad Ansari were present on the occasion.

In Rahim Yar Khan, Rahim Yar Khan Union of Journalists, the district bar association, and Photojournalists Association protested against the attack at the Railway Chowk.

Protests were also held in Gujranwala, Sialkot and Sadhoke. The protestors demanded that those responsible for the attack be immediately arrested. They said the government should ensure safety of journalists.

Members of the Cameramen’s Association also participated in the protests.
