Personal rivalry?: School targeted in bomb attack

HANGU:

A bomb exploded next to the Government High School for Boys in Doaba, Hangu district partially destroying the structure of the building on Saturday morning.

An official of Doaba police, Islamdin said the blast occurred at around 10am. He explained unidentified militants planted a low intensity bomb next to the principal’s official and detonated it through a remote control. The office was partially destroyed from the impact, however, no loss was reported. “The principal was not in his office at the time of the explosion,” shared Islamdin.

He added police rushed to the site to collect evidence. “We have reason to believe that the militants were trying to target just the principal, not the school,” the official added. Islamdin said the incident might be a case of personal enmity, rather than militancy. The principal, however, denied any feuds.

The police official added two kilogrammes of explosives were used in the bomb. A case was filed against unidentified militants and further investigation is under way.
