Crime and punishment: Two killed as 163 are arrested

Two people were killed in separate incidents while law enforcement agencies arrested 163 suspects on Monday.

KARACHI: Gadap police found the dead body of a young man at the Super Highway, near Afghan Basti within the limits of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. The police said the victim was later identified as 25-year-old, Abdul Malik, son of Turp Jaan.

The police said that unidentified armed men kidnapped Malik and tortured him, adding that there were several bullet marks on his body. His body was moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. Separately, 25-year-old Nighat Khatoon was killed by aerial firing near Shah Baig in the limits of Baghdadi police station. Police said the victim was sitting inside her home when she was hit by a bullet and died on the spot. Her body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, targeted operations continued in the city, with law enforcement agencies claiming to have made 163 arrests. "We have also seized big cache of weapons, stolen goods, vehicles and drugs" claimed a Rangers official.
