FAISALABAD:

The staff of a CNG station on Friday thrashed Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited officials who went there to disconnect the gas supply over violation of load management schedule.

SNGPL General Manager Sheikh Ikram told the media that he had received information about some CNG stations that were violating the gas load management schedule and were providing gas to vehicles during load shedding days.

He said he had accompanied gas distribution officers Shahid Iqbal, Rashid Hameed and other staff to the United CNG Station on Sheikhupura Road and found them violating the load management schedule.

“When the SNGPL staff tried to disconnect the CNG station’s gas supply, the staff there fired shots in the air to intimidate the SNGPL team,” he said.

The SNGPL team continued its work undeterred and disconnected the gas supply.  The station manager and the staff then attacked the SNGPL team and thrashed the SNGPL officials.

“When the officials ran towards their van, the CNG station crew damaged the van’s panes with clubs and rods,” he said.

He said that the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited had filed a complaint against the management of United CNG Station, but no one had been arrested so far.

A police spokesman told The Express Tribune that they had received a complaint from the United CNG station’s management alleging that the SNGPL staff had disconnected their gas supply without justification. “The police are investigating the matter ... The CNG station’s staff will be arrested if found guilty,” he said.
