LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge sought comments on Wednesday from the Shafiqabad SHO regarding a complaint filed by a man against his friend who he says he threatened to kill him on being asked to return a pair of shoes.

Petitioner Muhammad Ramazan said he had given his friend Muhammad Shamshad a pair of shoes to wear to a wedding. He said Shamshad had promised to return them after the event. When he later asked for the shoes, he said Shamshad made a number of excuses and in the end refused to return them. According to Ramazan, Shamshad also said he would shoot him if he mentioned the shoes again. Ramazan asked the Shafiqabad police station to register an FIR against Shamshad but his request was not entertained. He has now asked the court to order a registration of a case against Shamshad for threatening to kill him and for not returning his shoes.
