Preservation: Lyallpur Heritage Foundation formed

Mengal said foundation would conduct research and take measures to preserve the culture and heritage of Faisalabad.

FAISALABAD: The district administration has constituted the Lyallpur Heritage Foundation with a view to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of Faisalabad, District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal told the media on Tuesday. Mengal said the foundation would conduct research and take measures to preserve the culture and heritage of Faisalabad. Mengal said the historical Clock Tower, the Zila Council building and the Allama Iqbal Library had been renovated. There were also plans for declaring the villages of Sir Ganga Ram and Bhagat Singh as heritage sites, he said. Several other sites had also been identified for rehabilitation and renovation, he said. The DCO said that he was confident that the foundation would help highlight the significance of heritage for the youth. The foundation will be chaired by the DCO. Industrialist Syed Omer Nazar Shah has been nominated as its vice chairman. Faisalabad Museum Director Mian Attique Ahmad will be secretary, Assistant Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa the joint secretary, Apsra Gill the finance secretary and Public Relations Deputy Director Subhan Ali the information secretary. The foundation’s executive committee includes Shah Nawaz, Qalb-i-Habib, Ahmad Usman and Chaudhry Nasim Siddique.
