BAHAWALPUR:

An agriculture deputy district officer and police on Tuesday raided a fake fertiliser factory and seized salt, crushed stone, weighing balance and a sewing machine that were being used to manufacture fake fertiliser.

The factory owners fled. Agriculture Deputy District Officer Chaudhry Muhammad Zubair said he had received a tip-off about the factory in New Mehrabad near Rizwan Kanda, Liaquatpur. Mujahid Hussain, an employee, was arrested.

Hussain told police that Majid Siyal and Farooq Siyal, residents of basti Siyal, had been running the factory for the past three years.

The team sealed the factory and seized 97 bags of rock powder, seven bags of salt, polythene bags, empty SPO fertiliser bags, a strainer, a sewing machine and a weighing balance. These items have been sent to Liaquatpur City police station.
