Maintenance: Rs30 million allocated for 96 irrigation projects

Another Rs40.58m allocated for procurement of medicines.

MULTAN: The government has allocated Rs30 million for maintenance and lining of canals and gates of barrages, an Irrigation Department spokesman said on Sunday.

He said the amount would be spent on 96 projects across the Multan zone.

He said the maintenance of gates of the Trimmu, Sidhnai, Sulemanki and Islam barrages will be completed this year. He said priority projects this year included 25 prokects in Lodhran, eight in Islam Headwork, four in Multan, six in Shujaabad, eight in Trimmu Headworks, 12 in Sulemanki Headworks, 12 in Eastern Bar, 16 in western Bar and five in Sidhnai Headworks. He said consultants would regularly check the works at the starting, execution and completion stages.

Health allocation

The government has allocated Rs40.58 million for procurement of medicines at hospitals, basic health units and rural health centres in the Khanewal district, Executive District Officer (Health) Shahid Maroof said on Sunday. The EDO was talking to reporters.

He said Rs10.6 million was allocated for Khanewal district headquarters hospital, Rs3.68 million for Mian Channu tehsil headquarters hospital, Rs4 million for Kabirwala tehsil headquarters hospital, Rs3.68 million for Jahanian tehsil headquarters hospital and Rs18.62 million for 15 rural health centres, basic health units and mother and child health centres in the district.
