SIALKOT:
As many as 30 newly appointed doctors have refused to join basic health units (BHUs) and rural health centres (RHCs) in the district as a protest against what they called “tough policies” of the provincial government.
The Punjab government had appointed 55 doctors in the district to work at BHUs and RHCs. Several BHUs and RHCs in the district had been without doctors for as long as a year.
Under the new recruitment policy, the doctors were not allowed private practice. They were also not to be transferred for three years.
