Bigger picture: ‘Film industry can yield economic profits’
The delegation informed the minister about their issues related to the import of films.
ISLAMABAD:
Minister of State for Commerce and Textile Industry Engineer Khurram Dastgir highlighted the necessity of organising the film Industry on modern lines and revamping the cinema structure while speaking to a delegation of the film industry comprising cinema owners, distributors, exhibitors and importers. Dastgir said that the revival of the film industry will not only yield economic dividends but also help in create a softer image of Pakistan. The minister said that it is time to introduce latest technology and encourage creative talent which is capable of producing quality work including “good clean scripts and true professional attitude to attract the general public”. The delegation informed the minister about their issues related to the import of films. The minister assured the government’s cooperation and reiterated that the present democratic government will make every effort to create a favorable environment for the film industry to flourish.
