Education funds: Rs140m released for development schemes

Rs8.877 million will be used to restore missing facilities in 10 girls’ elementary and eight boys’ schools.

The government released more than Rs140 million on Thursday for 254 development schemes in Toba Tek Singh.


A District government spokesperson told The Express Tribune that Rs45.257 million will be spent on furniture in 55 girls’ high and higher secondary schools, 91 girls’ elementary schools and 46 girls’ primary schools in the district. Rs8.877 million will be used to restore missing facilities in 10 girls’ elementary and eight boys’ schools.

In addition, Rs24.691 million will go towards the construction of information technology labs in nine boys’ and 14 girls’ high and higher secondary schools. Rs14.724 million will be used to establish science laboratories in four boys’ and 13 girls’ schools, he said.

Rs21 million will be used to upgrade elementary schools 371-JB (second) Gojra, 673/14-GB Pir Mehal and 763-GB Pir Mehal. Rs 26.832 million will be used to reconstruct Government Islamia Secondary School Toba Tek Singh, Government Model High School Jhang Road Toba Tek Singh and Government Girls High School Gojra. These buildings were in disrepair and dangerous, the spokesperson added.
