KARACHI:

Keamari’s Anti-Quackery Committee (AQC) along with the police conducted raids on at least 10 clinics, including the clinic of female quack, Shabana Soomro, but no arrests were made, The Express Tribune learnt on Thursday.

“Our main target was Soomro but she escaped,” said Keamari’s AQC in-charge Dr Muzaffar Jakhrani. “If we find out that she runs her clinic without proving herself as a doctor, we’ll raid her clinic and arrest her,” he added.

“She should be arrested immediately because she is playing with innocent lives,” said Dr Aziz Khan Tank, the chairperson of Pakistan Medical Association’s Anti-Quackery Committee

During the raid, the team was informed by the residents that Soomro and other doctors like her were illegally running clinics in the area. “These clinics are located in slums and where law and order situation is unstable,” Dr Jakhrani added.
