KARACHI:

Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong has said that key discussions between Pakistan and China regarding CPEC Phase II, water storage technology, and new energy projects have entered their final stages.

He expressed strong support for Pakistan's diplomatic role, stating that China backs Pakistan's mediation efforts between Iran and the United States, and acknowledged Pakistan's active role in promoting stability during ongoing tensions in the Middle East. He made these remarks while addressing the Pak-China Investment Conference 2026, organised by the Balochistan Board of Investment at the Chinese Consulate on Friday.

Yang noted that several important strategic agreements between Pakistan and China are expected soon, adding that their partnership will drive sustainable economic development in Balochistan. Reflecting on past challenges such as the pandemic and geopolitical tensions, he said the launch of CPEC in 2013 helped Pakistan overcome logistical bottlenecks and build mutual trust. He emphasised that CPEC is not just an infrastructure initiative but a cornerstone of long-term economic growth.
