Killed in custody: January 6 fixed for arguments

LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge fixed January 6 for arguments on pre-arrest bail petitions of a sub inspector, an assistant sub inspector and 10 constables allegedly involved in torturing to death a youth and throwing his body in a drain. Complainant Munazza Sabir, mother of Rizwan Shah, registered the FIR against SI Javed Iqbal Cheema, ASI Sajad Shah and 10 constables of Nawankot police saying that on November 3, they had raided her house and taken Shah with them. She said when she asked them he was arrested, they told her that he was wanted in connection with several cases. She said when she went to meet Shah, he was not at the police station. She said the officials would not tell her where he was. She said after a few days residents of Gaju Matta fished out a body from a drain, later identified as Rizwan. She claimed that the police officials had tortured her son. The police officials, in their bail petitions, said the complaint was false.
