The objective of the rally was to convey a message of religious and sectarian harmony on the eve of new year. It was attended by a large number of people belonging to different religions.
The rally started from Imambargah Laal Shah and ended at the Mausoleum of Sufi Saint Hazrat Shah Rukunnuddin Aalam.
Chairman MAIHC Hasan Mashadi, while leading the rally, said he had put all his efforts to unite the different communities on one single platform without any prejudice or bias.
Participants from Christian and Hindu community were carrying placards and banners calling for unity and need for tolerance and interfaith harmony.
Tolerance is most needed at this time to promote harmony in the society, said Maulana Muhammad Ramzan Arabi.
Speaking at the occasion, Pope Javed said that their community wanted to spend the new year with peace and love.
Abbas Mashadi, the successor to Peer Laal Shah Mashadi throne, told the Express Tribune that if the rally had brought people of other sects in this walk, it would have given the message of unity.

Let's see how many readers comment on this constructive and inspiring event.
Multan has always been the land of Sufi and saints far from all the fanaticism and terrorism. The culture of Multan and surrounding area is the example of how Sufi Islam has spread and accepted. These Sufi and saints have always been revered and loved by all sects and all religions. It were these Sufis who have introduced peaceful and loving Islam to south Asia. Thanks for setting up an example with your presents to Pakistani Christians on X-mas day. It is time we all follow this example and bury the hatred forever.
