Healthcare development: PHF to include nurses, paramedics

Minister says funding for training nurses and paramedics would be included in foundation’s mandate.

LAHORE: Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique on Monday ordered enhancement of the scope of operation of Punjab Health Foundation (PHF). He said funding for training nurses and paramedics with support from NGOs would be included in foundation’s mandate. He was presiding over a meeting of the board of directors of the Punjab Health Foundation on Monday. Rafique said the PHF would facilitate young doctors of southern and central Punjab. He said the PHF would help set up clinics. He said lady doctors who had abandoned their profession after marriage would be encouraged to set up clinics close to their homes. He said the foundation had provided Rs850 million in interest-free loans to 1,025 doctors. He said the recovery rate of the loans was more than 98 per cent. The meeting decided that the scope of PHF be expanded.
