The family and relatives of a man kidnapped allegedly by his business partner last week staged a protest demonstration against the police on Saturday over their failure to recover him.
The protestors blocked the Tandlianwala-Faisalabad Road near Rehmay Shah and demanded that the suspect be immediately arrested.
Muhammad Yaqoob, one of the protestors, told the media that Rao Arsalan, a resident of Chak 452-GB, had had a dispute over money with his partner, Umar Hayat, a resident of Jandanwali.
“Last Thursday, Hayat and his accomplice kidnapped Arsalan from his home… We immediately informed the police… but they are demanding a bribe,” he said.
Yaqoob suspected that the kidnappers had bribed the police. “They are delaying the matter… We fear that further delay might result in Arslan’s death.”
The protestors threatened to besiege the police station if Arsalan was not recovered by Sunday.
The protest ended when a police team assured the protestors that the missing man would be recovered soon.
The Tandlianwala Saddar station house officer said the police had registered a case and investigation was underway.
The SHO denied delaying investigation or patronising the suspects. “Police are making efforts to recover Arsalan… we are hopeful he will be recovered soon,” he said.
