Transitions: Former commissioner passes away

Saleem Memon was the brother of The Express Tribune’s staffer, Bilal Memon.

KARACHI: Former Sukkur commissioner and secretary of the Sindh government, Saleem Ahmed Memon, passed away at the age of 70 at the Aga Khan University Hospital on Wednesday. Memon served as a member of the Sindh Public Service Commission and an ombudsman at the secretary’s office. He also served as the deputy commissioner of Badin and Sanghar. He fought a long battle with ill health after a heart attack on October 17. His father, GD Memon, was also a noted federal secretary and served as an adviser to the Sindh governor. The deceased was the brother of The Express Tribune’s staffer, Bilal Memon, and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre’s joint executive director, Dr Seemin Jamali. He is survived by a son and wife. He will be laid to rest on December 26 at his native town of Hala Old after Zuhr prayers.
