Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the former president Pervez Musharraf had imposed emergency after consultation with his cabinet. No one dared to speak up in front of him in those days as they always said that whatever president has said is right.
Speaking to Muneze Jahangir in Express News programme “Achha Lage, Bura Lage”, he said that he supported Musharraf on principle and backed his plan of imposing emergency but had asked him to exclude the judiciary.
Chaudhry Shujaat said that the opinion of the army was also considered because it was the army that was to implement it. “How could the emergency be implemented without the consent of the army?” he questioned.
“Everyone in those days did say ‘yes sir’ to the president and did not want to make him angry,” he said. A separate meeting was held with top military brass of that time to discuss this plan, Shujaat said.
The PML-Q chief said everyone involved should be implicated in the case in accordance to the Constitution and the law. He said that treason case cannot be maintained against Musharraf without Army Act.
Musharraf’s decision about Lal Masjid was his personal judgment and he wished that Akbar Bugti be killed in the operation, Shujaat disclosed.

@SHB: Lol! He earned his wages after retirement from teaching lectures, seminars, classes, books and tv news and interviews worldwide. Atleast he did not rob the bank or national treasury to srnd millions out for investments before returning gravely devalued money with fees or interests if ever...like NS & SS did. NS bros even generated money by putting Pak currency in indian industries for private gains. Sometime even bypassing Pak Mill owners to sell their own imported stuff for solely profit for private income at the cost of Pak economic losses. After all his house is no palace after you see his enemy's palaces and ovrseas streets and mentions.
@Shaikh Mohommad: I agree with you 100%. At that time, buck stopped with him. He could have lot of opinions from consultants but then he took the decision to declare emergency. So now he should not hide behind the bushes and put responsibility on other consultants. He should face the court proceedings like a man. If he is put in jail then he should go thru that time and not leave the country. There are always good and bad times in life. By the way, how did he get all this money to build a palace next to Islamabad and bought property in London?can he tell us something about it? I am sure it will be interesting story. I think he should be tried first about corruption and then for treason.

You will do remember that the Oath administered to all cadets at PMA Kakul holds them to defend the country ( not the constitution ! ) from all external and external threats for which they are committed to go by land , sea or air even at the peril of their lives ;
CJ Chaudhry included,, the Supreme Court Judgement after the takeover is spread over 700 pages and sets out in detail the extremely threatening situation faced by the State of Pakistan and hailing the takeover as INEVITABLE for the country's solidarity and independence.
If the State exists, the Constitution exists only then . If there is no State ,where is the question of any Constitution ? Please get real and grow up

@Ajab Khan Baloch: "The Buck Stops Here" goes the saying. General Musharraf should now face the music. It is no use passing the blame to others. This will teach others a lesson i.e. Do Not Go Against the Law of the Land" Constitution is supreme and should stay supreme and everyone should obey the law and the constitution. This message should be sent to everyone in no uncertain terms.
All including the Judges, Generals,Politicians and Beaurucrats who aided the General who violated his army oath and the country's Constitution should be tried and convicted. Should be a lesson to the next generations.

It seems that the looters have a full control of the country and the nation has accepted the situation. We as a nation deserve to be ruled under the corrupt system. Allah be with Musharraf and Pakistan.
The statement of Chaudhry Shujjat is not in favour of Musharraf or an effort to show responsibility.It is a political out burst, out of compulsion to prempt/ minimise the fall out of truth when it is revealed by Musharraf during the treason trial.As regards,Lal masjid or Bugti incident,instead of maligning Musharraf,Chaudhry Shujjat should go to the court in these cases and get his statement recorded,so that he could be cross examined by the defendants to elicit the truth.
@Saleem, Why have you left Ch. Iftikhar for his Oct 12 act? His action of oath under PCO? He made every act of Musharraf legitimate. I am thankful to Musharraf for making Pakistan a progressive state during his era. No charges of corruption on him. All politically motivated cases. Those who are alleging him should look into their own deeds, what have they done with this country.
@Ajab Khan Baloch: "Clean the system once and for all" isn't that what all past generals tried to do? Clean Pakistan of Corrupt political leaders and judges. That's what TTP & AlQaida wants, to clean the land of sinfullness? Probably neighbors and the West has some cleaning agenda too. Also local high cast and the rich and the wealthy want to clean the system of hurdles and checks too. Everybody want to kill all the other types except their own kind. Imposing emergency was necessary because the CJ had become political and the country was in danger. Saving country is always more important than saving the constitution.
