Law and order: Severed bodies of three abducted men found

Skirmishes between Uzair Baloch and Ladla groups in Lyari continued on Monday.

KARACHI: The bodies of three men, who had been abducted earlier, were found from near the Super Highway on Monday.

Police located the bodies after being alerted by locals. The bodies were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later moved to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for identification. Police officials said that the victims had been shot in their heads while their bodies bore several marks of torture. Gadap City Police Station SHO Imtiaz Niazi said that the victims were killed after having been kidnapped.

In a separate incident, 17-year-old Muzammil, son of Matloob, was shot dead when armed men opened fire near Khawaja Chowrangi in Landhi. Police officials said that the deceased used to work at a garment factory and was on his way to work when the incident occurred. According to the officials, robbers were looting passersby in the area and opened fire upon being resisted. A stray bullet struck him, causing him to die on the spot.

Lyari violence

At least two people were wounded in clashes between two groups in Lyari. The injured were identified as 65-year-old Gauhar and 20-year-old Idrees.  Both were injured in rocket and grenade attacks by the Baba Ladla and Uzair Baloch groups. Police officials said that parts of Lyari, including Ali Mohammad Mohalla, Zikri Para, Slaughter House Road and Eidu Lane remained disturbed on Monday.

Arrests

Over two dozen suspects were taken into custody during a targeted operation near Banaras Chowk, Orangi Town. According to Orangi division’s SP Chaudhry Asad, a total of 25 suspects were taken into custody during the house-to-house search operation. The suspects were being questioned over their possible involvement in crime and terror activities.

Three alleged gangsters were arrested after an encounter with the police in Kharadar. The suspects were identified as Farhan, alias Indian, Nadeem and Irfan. Police officials also claim to have seized two hand grenades and a pistol from their possession. Police officials said that the arrested gangsters were associated with the Wasiullah Lakho group of Lyari gangsters and were involved in a number of cases of killings, extortion and kidnapping for ransom.
