KARACHI: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said on Monday that mobile networks will be shut down on account of Hazrat Imam Hussain's (RA) Chehlum on December 24, Express News reported.

Mobile networks are reported to go down starting 8am on Tuesday, December 24.

Cellular services will be ceased in 31 cities throughout the country, PTA said in a statement.

Security

Security forces will be put on high alert across Pakistan on that day, with army units deployed in parts of Sindh particularly Karachi.

The deployment came after the Sindh government requested for army’s assistance. Around 4,000 to 5,000 army personnel will be deployed in the province as a part of the security plan.

Police and Rangers will primarily be responsible for the security while army will be on standby to handle emergency situation.

This is stupid. Why so much freedom given to one sect where the majority of the population is confined to homes and stripped of their rights to work/communicate just so some crazy heretics could celebrate their non-islamic and anti-islamic rituals?

if you are going to restrict 90% of the people from carrying out their day to day lives, why can't you confine that 10% (or whatever percent they make) of the population to their places of worship and processions?

when poor Afghans or some locals in Peshawar try to celebrate Eid with Saudi Arabia, they are beaten and banned from praying the Eid prayer. Where is the religious freedom for them? Even hindus are given the religious freedom, and the whole month of Muharram is dedicated to these mushriks.

may Allah help this country. On one hand it's getting more westernized than the western countries themselves. on the other hand there is so many ignorant customs and rituals that did not even exist 5 centuries ago. It seems like not even 15% people of this country are on the proper Islamic belief.
