Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 113 runs on Sunday to go 2-1 up in the five-match series, with the last two games in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Friday.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) said Shehzad pleaded guilty to the offence.
"The opener was found to have breached Article 2.2.4 of the ICC code of conduct for players and player support personnel, which relates to 'inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in the course of play during an international match'," stated an ICC statement.
The charge had been laid by the on-field umpires Johan Cloete of South Africa and Pakistan's Shozab Raza, as well as third umpire Richard Illingworth from England and fourth umpire Ahsan Raza of Pakistan.
The incident took place at the end of the 19th over when Shehzad got involved in a debate with Dilshan, which ended with the former pushing the Sri Lanka opener's shoulder.
Shehzad scored a brilliant 81 as Pakistan notched up a massive total of 326-5 in 50 overs before bowling out Sri Lanka for 213 in 44.4 overs.
Pakistan won the first game in Sharjah by 11 runs while Sri Lanka clinched the second in Dubai by two wickets.

@RP:
Using a racial slur (Paki) and getting published three times and still crying. Grow up Indians
@moderator: What a joke this site is. How biased can you be? Only Pak favored comments are showing up regardless how abusive they are.
@JD: And yet your paki biatches are begging to be part of the IPL?
@Asif Ali Khan: That argument only works in the pre-K I think. It's worse than dog ate my homework.
@Indian: @JD: Hasham Amla is also an Indian descendent!
Yes, and proudly so. And, so are the Pakistanis for the last thousands of years. They did not drop from the sky just 66 years ago. JD is just commenting on what is seen on the Indian telecasts of Cricket Shows in terms of rude un-sportsmanlike behavior.
Shehzad, Please don't behave like Indians, Kohli & co. You are a Pakistani.
@Indian: So in that case Even Altaf bhai is of Indian descendant!!
Shahzad alone is not responsible for the incident. What Shahzad did was in reaction to what Dilshan did and did on purpose - moving with his bat held up and touching Shahzad's shoulder.
They should leave him as it is, no need to let the bad boy change his attitude on field. cocky attitude works for him and pak needs that for now.
@JD: Hasham Amla is also an Indian descendent!
Why are people getting on the case of Ahmed Shahzad?! Cricket is tough sport these days and played with fire and aggression. If someone wants to act and conduct like gentleman, he is better off taking part in some congeniality contest instead.
I for one condone such instances and no one should take crap off of no one.
There is no doubt that he is a talented player and hopefully can be the opener Pakistan has been searching for over a decade but Shehzad's actions are despicable. He should have been fined 100% of his match fee and then banned for the remaining ODIs. Even his behavior in the previous ODI was pathetic when he was given out LBW. He waited for a whole minute then tried to review the decision and when the umpires told him he was out of time proceeded to argue with them for another 5 minutes. He's lucky he wasn't charged with dissent then. More importantly his hot headed behavior is seeming to become a pattern rather than a one off. His punishment should have been stricter while the captain and coach should sit him down for a serious talk. Aggression on the field is fine but channel it into your batting rather than acting like a petulant child.
Such cocky behavior is one of the reasons I don't like Indian crickets... Shehzad, please dont stoop down to that level. Learn something from Hashim Amla.
This is not Good.
Please dont loose the game spirit.....
