Benazir Shaheed Bridge: NHA accepting tenders

The bridge will be built on River Indus between Chachran Sharif and Mithan Kot.

KHAN PUR: The National Highway Authority (NHA) is accepting tenders for the Benazir Shaheed Bridge phase-3 on River Indus between Chachran Sharif and Mithan Kot. Project Director Sheikh Hussnain Ali announced this on Sunday, while talking to reporters. He said phase-3 would consist of a 16 kilometre road in two sections. One of these would connect the bridge to Mithan Kot and would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs1.49 billion. The second would connect Mithan Kot to the Indus Highway and would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs804 million. He said tenders for the next phase of the project (construction of banks and spurs) would be called later. The second phase, he said, would cost Rs1.8 billion. He said the project would be completed at a cost of Rs7 billion. The project would reduce the distance between Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur division by 200 kilometres.
