President’s Trophy: Maqbool leads United Bank’s charge

Bowler takes six-wicket haul as KRL collapse for a mere 76 on day one.

Atif Maqbool posted impressive figures of six for 22 for United Bank as KRL were all out for 76 in just 39.4 overs on day one of the President’s Trophy seventh round match at the KRL Stadium.


United Bank won the toss and chose to field, which worked in their favour as Maqbool led the bowling attack with support from Kashif Bhatti and Tariq Haroon, who chipped in with two wickets each, as Usman Salahuddin top-scored with 21.

In reply, United Bank were 83 for three at day’s end, with Ali Asad scoring 35 while Wajihuddin was not out on 23.

Meanwhile, ZTBL were all out for 179 as Aizaz Cheema ended the day with figures of four for 83.

ZTBL’s Mohammad Khalil scored a 69-ball 57, studded with seven fours and a six, as Najaf Shah, Kamran Sajid and Tahir Khan picked up two wickets apiece. PIA were 70 for three when the day ended with Shehzar Mohammad not out on 20.

Shahzad, Naeem give SNGPL decent start

Naeem Uddin and Khurram Shahzad both scored a half century as SNGPL ended day against National Bank at 204 for five.

Naeen posted 63 with the help of seven boundaries, while Shahzad scored 76 as Ali Waqas (29) and Adnan Akmal (20) were both not out when umpires called an end to the day. Ataullah and Wahab Riaz took two wickets for 50 runs.

In other matches, Mohammad Saad’s 97, which included 17 fours, was in vain as State Bank were all out for a mere 178 in 58.2 overs against PTV at the National Ground in Islamabad.

Similarly, Habib Bank were  bowled out for 180 as Azhar Attari took four Mohammad Hafeez bagged three for Wapda.
