A civil judge ordered the National Highway Authority (NHA) chief, Korean construction company Sambo and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government to open the Lowari Tunnel every other day.
Last week, residents of Chitral had filed a case through the Peshawar High Court Chitral Circuit President Abdul Wali Khan and Chitral District Bar Association President Alamzeb against the closure of Lowari Tunnel.
Judge Syed Ali Raza, after hearing the case, gave his final verdict on Friday and ordered Bashirul Mulk, a representative of Sambo, an NHA official and the provincial government’s lawyer in the case to open the tunnel more frequently as residents of Chitral suffer severely due to the blockade.
The judge ordered that the tunnel will remain open for traffic every alternate day and said the people of Chitral were citizens of Pakistan and had the right to move freely anywhere in the country.
