Do-over: Election tribunal orders vote recount

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Election Tribunal has ordered recount of votes and re-verification of thumb impressions in a petition filed by a candidate of the PS-62 constituency in Tharparkar.

Pakistan Peoples Party’s Makhdoom Khaliluz Zaman had won the seat in the general elections, defeating petitioner Arbab Anwar Jabbar, who alleged that the election results had been rigged. According to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s results, Zaman bagged 36,859 votes while Jabbar finished second with 28,670 votes.
