Benazir income support programme: Greece discusses improvement

The ambassador passed on good wishes to Enver Baig for his appointment as the chairman of BISP.

ISLAMABAD: Greek Ambassador to Pakistan Petros Mavroidis called on Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairman Enver Baig and discussed the aspects that needed improvement. The Chairman BISP briefed the ambassador about the suggested course of transformation in BISP which will ensure improvement in the efforts to tackle poverty and bring transparency in the functions of the programme. The programme will change its focus, emphasizing on the graduation programs including skills development initiative, Waseela-e-Rozgar. The chairman said the future plans will consider the needs of national and international markets for providing relevant training to the youth. Baig also reiterated the Prime Minister’s commitment towards poverty alleviation in the country. He briefed the ambassador about other initiatives started by the current government for combating poverty. The ambassador passed on good wishes to Enver Baig for his appointment as the chairman of BISP.  He discussed different avenues of cooperation with the chairman and assured that his government will provide every possible support to the government of Pakistan.
