PESHAWAR:

Students and suspended faculty members of Edwardes College held a sit-in outside the Peshawar Press Club and demanded the resignation of Principal Dr Titus Presler.

Protesters blocked Sher Shah Suri Road and chanted slogans against the college administration. They demanded the immediate restoration of suspended faculty members.

On Tuesday, several members of staff had said in a news conference they had been suspended for unknown reasons without a show-cause notice, and alleged the principal was jeopardising both their careers and the students’ education.

Presler, however, said the suspension took place after serving teachers with a notice over their “dubious role in certain events” at the college. He did not share details of the reasons behind the sacking.
