K-P Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and Secretary General of PTI Jahangir Tareen were also in attendance.
The PTI Chairman had decided last week to kick off this polio campaign himself, as terrorists continued their attacks on polio teams in the tribal areas.
Imran said it would be an attempt to boost the morale of polio workers who are constantly facing threats to their lives. He spoke about the dangers polio workers and police face while administrating polio vaccinations. He said “whoever is targeting polio workers and policemen, is committing an injustice towards Islam, K-P and Pakistan.”
The PTI Chairman spoke to local residents about polio and how important it is to tackle the disease.
“If polio is not dealt with in time and if it spreads, no local resident will be able to leave K-P and go abroad to work,” he said.
He lamented that “Polio is a disease that has been terminated worldwide and now only exists in Pakistan...our children’s future depends on polio vaccines.”
While declaring that he will personally head this campaign, Imran stated “If the right measures are taken, polio will be eradicated from Pakistan in the next three months.”

The move was lauded by Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, who is the national ambassador for polio vaccination.

How many children's futures has he compromised by not speaking up for years when his proteges were targeting the polio campaign? Polio is very secular by nature and curse on whole humanity. It doesn't differentiate between muslim, hindu, Pakistani, Afgan or Indian. However, only Pakistani Islamists are against Polio eradication. Is there any reason behind this love for Polio by Pakistani Islamists?

We should appreciate the gesture and the lead he is taking to eradicated this disease, it is important this manice becomes under control. This is the right way to publicize and uplift the moral of health workers and police in K-P. He reminds of another leader in K-P, the late Abdul Qayum Khan, as the story was told to me by my late brother in law, an engineer, according to him Chief Minister Khan used to visit early mornings and in the late evenings to see the construction and progress of Peshawar University. I long for those kind of leaders, by the way when he died, he did not even own a house, he lived with his daughter, K-P has produced some out standing people.

Killing of any person is injustice. Not just polio workers. IK is concerned about going abroad only....as having a polio epidemic status will cause even him to go abroad.
